Gap options (třída Kapitána Jaroše, Brno, CZ)
Kopečková, Barbora ; Haasová, Lenka (referee) ; Toman, Radek (advisor)
The aim of the final bachelor thesis is to create a home for the elderly near the centre of Brno, on Kapitán Jaroš Avenue. This project focuses on the creation of a community space that will enable seniors to live an active and independent life close to the city centre and all available amenities. It will also allow them to participate in cultural and social events in the area, which will be literally at their fingertips. The architecture of the project focuses on creating a friendly and barrier-free environment that allows easy orientation and movement of seniors. The house has common spaces such as a community kitchen, library, communal dining room, TV corner and games room, these spaces encourage communication and shared activities between the residents. An integral part of the project are the residence terraces across the whole building, created when the mass was removed to solve the complicated situation of the north-facing plot. Furthermore, the entire house is connected to a large wooden ramp through the entire courtyard, which allows the residents of the home to walk safely into town or the park, or just take a pleasant stroll and meet various people from the neighbourhood. The concept of the ramp is therefore a kind of garden for the elderly, while at the same time solving the chaotic traffic situation at this location.Overall, the architectural project is designed to allow the seniors to live in a comfortable and friendly environment while experiencing new adventures in the urban environment. This should lead to a better sense of belonging and enjoyment of life, while contributing to the development of the city and the inner city itself.

Šedivý, Jiří ; Krahulcová, Beáta (advisor) ; Zelinková, Olga (referee)
The diploma thesis "Ageism in the Czech republic" explores areas, where Czech seniors are perceived in discriminatory manners. It maps where they can encounter such behaviors, how do they manifest and which parts of society display those ageist attitudes. For the research I have used a qualitative inquiry way of focus groups and further individual interviews. Research sample was formed partly by seniors living in nursing home and partly by those ones living at home, relatively self-reliantly. The obtained data was analyzed, coded by opened and selective coding and after that evaluated. To achieve good validity of research I have used Q-sorting as an auxiliary method in research sample of young adults working in social services or in related areas. The data I received was analyzed by correlation analysis. I have defined basic and most important points from all levels of research where seniors perceived discriminatory behavior and pressure for young and adult populations. As a suitable prevention I have established the education to values and familiarization with problems of seniors.

Pensioners and their labour market participation
NOVOTNÁ, Andrea
The bachelor thesis covers the topic of position of pensioners in society and how they succeed in the labour market. The theoretical part consists of three basic sections. The first one is focused on seniors and their position in society. The second chapter is focused on lifelong learning and the third part includes the issue of pensioners' success in the labour market. In the empirical part there are evaluated the results of the research, whose main objective was to determine how the chosen retirees perceive problems within the labour market participation and if they have enough opportunities for their use. A part of the research is a finding if their work contributes to overall satisfaction, so how they are successful in society according to their opinion. To achieve these goals, the main research question was created. The question is: How different are responses of old age pensioners and disability pensioners to the labour market. To answer the main research question, the six sub questions were built. The qualitative research method was chosen for the research part of the thesis. Data collection was realized using semi-structured interviews. The research sample is consisted of eight communication partners, who are made up of two groups of pensioners. The first group consists of old age ones and the second group of disability pensioners, who are active in the labour market. They were chosen using the Snowball sampling technique. The results of research show that the group of old age pensioner perceive themselves positively in the labour market, while the majority of disability pensioners say that there is no place for old age pensioners in the labour market because they take work places to young people. The disability pensioners perceive themselves positively too. Only one of old age pensioners says that there is not so much interest in disability pensioners in the labour market. Both of the groups evaluate the opinion on lifelong learning in a positive way. The old age pensioners do not have any substantive problems with keeping their job. On the other hand the disability pensioners find some problems with keeping their job, especially when their state of health gets worse. More disability pensioners have experienced discrimination in the workplace than the old age pensioners. Both of groups have time for their hobbies, however disability pensioners have not enough energy for them because of spending long time in their work. A positive finding is that both groups of pensioners say that their position in society is good, however two of old age pensioners say that their status in society may get worse. Only one communication partner from the group of disability pensioners does not fell well in society.
